Mrs. Susan Sauer, the school nurse, is in the building Monday through Friday from 7:45 am until 2:45 pm. As the school nurse my goal is to insure that all students are healthy and ready to learn. In addition to treating daily scraped knees and tummy-aches, I perform yearly height, weight, vision and hearing screenings.
Often it is difficult as a parent to determine if your child is too sick to come to school. For the protection of your child and the other children in the class, please do not sent your child to school if he or she appears ill. A child exhibiting the following symptoms should be kept home:
- fever currently or within the previous 24 hours
- vomiting or diarrhea
- any symptoms of a contagious disease, such as chicken pox, strep throat, conjunctivitis(pink eye), impetigo, ringworm
- excessive cough and/or cold symptoms that interfere with the child's ability to learn
- undiagnosed skin rash

If your child will be absent from school, please call the school nurse at 296-2858, ext. 215 before 8:30 am each day that your child will be out of school. I have a 24 hour voicemail so you may call and leave the child's name, grade and teacher, and reason for absence. When the child returns to school a note from the parent/guardian must be provided, stating the date and reason for the absence(s) in order for the absence to be considered excused.
Any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) cannot be administered by the school nurse without a physician's written order.
